The villa stands in a village ( 23 km. from Pisa, 33 from Livorno, 20 km. from Lucca and 60 km. from Firenze), a little and renowned town situated on the eastern side of Pisan mountains, on an ancient fortress ruins, which was the grand-ducal administrators house ( the Medici) and which constituted the centre of a small city, because it contained the villa, the church, the stables, the garden and the cultivations of fruits.
The villa is articulated on three elevated floors and a cellar; the cellar develops into three rooms, the first is trapezoidal and is covered with cross vaults and the other two rooms are covered with vaults, while the ground floor and the first floor (the noble floor) have got the same scheme: they are composed of a large central hall from which we can enter the other frescoed rooms. The garret, used for the desiccation of fruit and corn, is divided by three arches and it is illuminated by large openings on the northern and on the southern sides.
Moreover there is a natural cavern, which is not accessible anymore, and the pre-existent Medieval fortifying armour, on which the sixteenth-century wall structure leans, is still observable.
The garden is very important, because it develops in the sequence of three terraces following a distributive hierarchy: the Renaissance part (the flowers park) communicates with the noble floor, the camellias garden communicates with the ground floor, while the field with the fruits communicates with the cellar. Therefore the villa is immersed in a typical Tuscan garden, designed by alleys and lanes which take to stays places with statues, big fountains and century-old trees.
Finally the villa is appropriate and has often been used for ceremonies, banquets, parties, conferences, meetings, shows, photographic workings, fashion parades and cultural manifestations.
